Why THE FINAL.
Most high school sports coverage is an afterthought — a line score buried at the bottom of a section, or nothing at all. THE FINAL. exists because the athletes, teams, and communities playing these games deserve the same level of dedicated, consistent coverage that gets handed to college and pro sports without a second thought.
We're a digital sports publication built around a paid student press corps: high school writers and photographers covering their own communities, earning real bylines and building real portfolios while they do it.
Starting Small
Right now, that means one market: Indiana high school hockey. It's where we're proving out the model — full team and player coverage, weekly rankings, a real newsroom rhythm — before we take it anywhere else. From here, we're looking to expand into other sports and other states, bringing the same standard of coverage to more athletes and more communities.
