Game of the Week: South Stars beat Ice Rocks, 4-3.

Indianapolis — High school hockey has officially kicked off for the 2026-27 season, and THE FINAL.'s first Game of the Week was one not to miss.
The South Stars narrowly beat the Westfield Ice Rocks, 4-3, Saturday morning at the Pop Weaver Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The Ice Rocks came ready to go in the first period, with Andrew Ravensburg striking first with an assist from Tyler Landrum. Dylan Wies was able to add a second in the first period with help from Brayden Lemieux.
Stars head coach Chad Brunet describes when the momentum shifted in the second period as the South Stars' Landon Kyle scored on an assist from Maxwell Kerins.
“I think our first goal is four on four. And so I think that first goal in the battle back, I think that’s really where it starts to turn," Brunet said. "But it’s really before that, getting attitude right and working hard, that creates that goal.”
Westfield suffered from penalties in the second period, allowing the tying power play goal from Evan Gettum with Benjamin Gettum and Landon Kyle each getting points for assisting.
"Overall (Westfield) started out really strong. However, that’s our first game of the season so our conditioning fell off really flat in the second period,” Ice Rocks assistant coach Nick Roberts said. “The second goal they scored ... that’s when we realized we were tired. We were on our heels a little bit.”
As the third period kicked off, the Stars were the first to respond with another power play goal scored by Joshua Adams and assisted by Benjamin Gettum. The Stars scored once more later in the third, with Landon Kyle getting another point for the season, with the assist going to Benjamin Gettum and Maxwell Kerins.
The Ice Rocks responded with their third goal, first goal and unassisted for Brayden Lemieux to get within striking distance. Westfield pulled its goalie with 36 seconds left on the clock and managed to get shots on net. However, Stars goalie Grady Parsons was able to keep them at bay and get the win.
Despite the loss for the Ice Rocks, assistant coach Alex Kem believes the team had a good showing and the third period really determined who would win that game.
“I feel like there in the second period, once it got tied up going into the third, we sort of saw what the game could have been," Kem said. "And I think it was just who came out and played better that third period.”
